About Ria Tocsin

Get to know Ria, the author behind the hilarious and heartfelt 'Darcy's Saga's'. Discover her unique journey, her passion for writing, and her message of hope and empathy.

Her Journey

Ria Tocsin is a new author with a hilariously, colloquial, unique style of writing. What started as a ranting journal soon morphed into the autofiction, memoir style, you see today. By writing 'Darcy's Story' she has learnt an immense amount about herself. It has given her a compassion for people that have silent struggles they veil with a smile. Even the bullies and villains in the story have a side to them they don't want people to see. That everyone is trying to get by with whatever coping mechanisms they have learnt. Some good, some bad, and some outright ugly. she has found her writing  cathartic; it can help you in times of your own loneliness.

Her Audience

Addiction, abuse and narcissistic relationships can all come hand in hand; nothing is ever clean cut. Ria aims to reach anyone and everyone. There are so many diverse and complex topics that she has faced throughout Darcy's journey, there is something for everyone. Even if you take nothing more than this unique style of comedic writing as something to tell someone you feel may benefit from laughing at Lady Jane's witticisms.

Her Values

She has experienced a difficult and traumatic life, culminating in over ten years battling an alcohol and drug addiction. There is no cure for addiction, and her writing has helped her face and banish the demons that contributed to her downwards spiral. Now facing the ever-difficult challenge of sobriety in an environment where temptations are a daily presence, she hopes these fictionalised accounts of her struggles, hopes, dreams and achievements, will help others in similar situations to also find hope in a hopeless place. She lives in the UK with her Gremlins, and is busy writing the follow up books in this debut collection.

"Live, laugh, and hopefully take more understanding that the world would be a better place if people had a bit more empathy."
