The Power of Being Seen: Why I Keep Driving Forward

Sometimes, I feel like a single leaf within a book in the British Library—one whose pages are crisp, white, and filled with new ideas. It is easy to get disheartened when nobody sees them. It’s tempting to stay behind my desk and let the weight of the past overwhelm me, whispering that it would be easier to give up. When you have listened to the negative echoes of the past for far too long, they can consume you, tricking you into feeling unworthy of your own voice. It is a battle I fight every day.

But then, I leave my desk. I go out and talk to you.

Every time I share the message behind Darcy’s Story, something incredible happens. I receive messages from people telling me how much these words resonate with them. It reminds me why I do this, even if I sometimes ramble. If people find comfort, solace, and a sense of belonging in my words, then it is worth stepping out from behind my desk—my sanctuary and my hikikomori—to be my dazzling self and deliver the message the only way I know how: by being me.

As we move into 2026, I am choosing to lead with:

  • Resilience: Because the past didn’t break me.
  • Continued Passion: Because Darcy’s journey isn’t over.
  • Authenticity: Because the most powerful thing I can be is myself.

To everyone who has listened, talked to me, and given me the time of day: Thank you. You have shown me that this work is worth it. I’m not just a leaf lost in a great library of revered literary genius—I’m part of a community. You remind me that I am a force of positive for others. Perhaps it’s time I use some of that strength to realise my own worth as we enter 2026?

Let’s keep driving forward together.
